Resignation of a Non-Executive Officer of the People Power Party's Daejeon City Chapter Due to Allegations of Distribution of Illegal Sexual Footage
A non-executive officer of the People Power Party's Daejeon City Chapter has stepped down from their position after being sued for allegedly distributing illegal sexual footage related to their wife.
On the 25th, the People Power Party's Daejeon City Chapter officially announced, "Spokesperson A has expressed their intention to resign from their party position, and we have accepted this."
They further stated, "Separately from Spokesperson A's resignation, we convened an urgent ethics committee meeting this afternoon to confirm the contents reported by the media, and we will verify the facts regarding the media reports; if any violations are confirmed, we will take decisive actions."

The Daejeon City Chapter held an urgent ethics committee meeting the day before, unanimously deciding to expel former spokesperson A for violating Article 4 of the party's ethics rules regarding maintaining dignity.
Former spokesperson A is accused of having forced his wife, B, into abusive sexual acts for several years and of assaulting her, with allegations that photos taken during this process were distributed online.
According to B's statements, former spokesperson A allegedly recruited men online to engage in sexual acts. It is also known that former spokesperson A was issued a restraining order for four months due to B's domestic violence report last October.
However, former spokesperson A has reportedly refuted B's claims, asserting that they are completely false.

A police official stated, "It is true that a complaint has been filed and is under investigation, but the couple's statements differ significantly, so we are currently at the stage of establishing the precise facts. We cannot disclose further details as this is an ongoing investigation."
In response to this incident, the Democratic Party of Korea's National Women's Committee issued a statement urging, "A thorough investigation and proper protection measures for the victim must be promptly implemented," emphasizing that the People Power Party should take this matter seriously, conduct an immediate investigation, and impose appropriate disciplinary actions.
Additionally, the Daejeon Women's Association, Daejeon Citizen’s Social Organizations Coalition, and the Daejeon Counseling Center and Facility Alliance for the Prevention of Women's Sexual Violence jointly demanded, "The People Power Party's Daejeon City Chapter should officially apologize to the victim and conduct an investigation into the truth," and "disclose the circumstances under which the victim's reports were ignored, and take immediate measures to protect the victim and prevent secondary harm."
