Entertainer Yoo Young-jae (61) has been sentenced to prison. He was convicted of forcibly molesting Sunwoo Eun-sook's older sister.

On the 23rd, the Suwon District Court's Seongnam branch Criminal Division 1 (Presiding Judge Heo Yong-gu) delivered the first trial verdict for Yoo Young-jae. He was charged with violating the special law on the punishment of sexual crimes (forcible molestation by a relative).

The court sentenced Yoo Young-jae to two years and six months in prison. He was taken into custody in court due to "risk of flight." Additionally, he was ordered to complete a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program and was banned from working in institutions related to children, adolescents, and disabled individuals for five years.

The court recognized all charges as guilty. It stated, "The victim's testimony is specific and consistent, with no contradictions or irrational elements based on experience."

Furthermore, "Based on facts recognized as evidence and related circumstances, the victim's testimony is sufficiently credible, and it can be acknowledged that the accused forcibly molested the victim, who is a relative, on five occasions."

It also pointed out that Yoo Young-jae denies the crime. "Considering the nature and method of the crime, the offense is severe," and "Despite no restitution to the victim and no forgiveness received, the defendant denies the crime and shows no remorse."

Yoo Young-jae married Sunwoo Eun-sook in 2022 but parted ways in April last year. He was prosecuted for forcibly molesting Sunwoo Eun-sook's older sister on five occasions from March to October 2023.

Meanwhile, Sunwoo Eun-sook filed a lawsuit to annul her marriage with Yoo Young-jae, alleging he concealed a common-law marriage. However, the Suwon Family Court's Seongnam branch dismissed it, ruling that since they have already divorced, the lawsuit cannot proceed.
