The People Power Party transitions to its first official presidential election system after impeachment… Election Commission to launch as early as the 7th.

Following the historic impeachment of former President Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party is expected to officially begin preparations for the presidential election.

The conservative camp, which had been unable to activate an official election system due to its anti-impeachment stance, is now in the process of organizing its candidates. Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo has taken the lead, signaling his intention to run.

On the 5th, Mayor Hong posted on his Facebook, stating, "I see this as the last mission of my 30 years in politics and have thoroughly prepared for it. Starting next week, I will sequentially follow the process and stand before the nation again," effectively formalizing his candidacy.

"One day is enough for healing… We need to overcome conflicts and open a new era of national unity."

Mayor Hong emphasized, "The impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol has now become a matter of the past, regardless of discussions. There is no time left to be entangled in impeachment controversies." He stated, "This presidential election is a very short campaign with just 60 days remaining."

He continued, "A day is sufficient for healing. We must rise again. We need to gather the passion we devoted to opposing impeachment to secure victory in the upcoming presidential election." He added, "Our mission is to establish a new country without conflict and division, a nation unified." He stressed that it is time to create a completely new Republic of Korea, a Republic of Korea where coexistence and mutual prosperity prevail.

Additionally, he stated, "It is time for the Republic of Korea, which has advanced beyond modernization and democratization, to leap forward once again and open the era of the 7th Republic and advanced nations."

Kim Moon-soo, Oh Se-hoon, Han Dong-hoon, and others mentioned… The opposition is dominated by Lee Jae-myung.

In the wake of former President Yoon's removal, there is a growing atmosphere in the opposition predicting a strong performance by Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party.

In response, the conservative camp is mentioning candidates such as Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, former People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon, former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min, lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo, and former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong.

The People Power Party plans to officially launch its party election management committee to select a presidential candidate as early as the 7th. The committee is expected to promptly finalize eligibility requirements, election methods, and the composition of the electorate, launching candidate selection within a compressed schedule.
