Stray Kids set a record on the Billboard charts.
On the 29th (KST), Billboard announced on its website that Stray Kids' "ATE" had topped the 'Billboard 200' on its upcoming chart dated August 3rd.
The 'Billboard 200' is the main album chart, which ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on physical album sales, streaming equivalent albums (SEA units), and track equivalent albums (TEA units).
According to Billboard, "ATE" achieved 232,000 album units, of which 218,000 were physical album sales. SEA units amounted to 13,000 and TEA units to 1,000.
The high album sales in the U.S. led to its top position. It is the best-selling K-pop album released this year, and the sixth best-selling album overall.
They have achieved five consecutive No. 1 debuts, an unprecedented record for any group worldwide. They first entered this chart in March 2022 with "ODDINARY."
Subsequent releases also secured the No. 1 spot on the 'Billboard 200,' including the mini album "MAXIDENT," the third full album "★★★★★," and the eighth mini album "樂-STAR."
Their agency commented, "Stray Kids has set the record for 'the first group in the world.' They have realized their grand ambition to dominate the global music market with 'ATE.'"
"ATE" is Stray Kids' first comeback of the year. The title track is "Chk Chk Boom," which expresses the group's confidence in accurately aiming for their goals.
They dominated global charts. Stray Kids' "Chk Chk Boom" ranked 30th on the UK's 'Official Singles Chart Top 100' and topped the latest album chart of the Syndicat National de l'Édition Phonographique in France.
Meanwhile, Stray Kids will kick off their new world tour "dominATE" next month at the KSPO Dome in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul.
