Apartment Parking Lot Threatening Note Incident, Police Investigation Launched
A threatening note found in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Seo-gu, Gwangju, stating "If you put a violation sticker, I'll stab you," has left residents in fear. In response, the police are considering applying the crime of public threat and have initiated an investigation.
The Gwangju Seo police stated on the 11th that they are investigating the threatening note found on the windshield of a parked vehicle within the apartment complex located in Hwajeong-dong, Seo-gu.

This incident came to light on the 7th when the photo of the note was posted on the online community ‘Bobaedream.’
The author of the post stated, "In an apartment with over 2,000 units in Seo-gu, Gwangju," and explained, "The allowed parking time is from 10 PM to 8 AM, and perhaps angered by the violation sticker, someone wrote this ignorant phrase." They also added, "The security guards can't post it because they are scared, and the apartment group chat is in chaos because they're frightened."
Possibility and Severity of Applying the Crime of Public Threat
Employees of the apartment management office were also aware of the existence of this note but were unable to identify who posted it and reportedly did not file a separate report.
The matter came to police attention after a complaint was filed through the National Petition System, and the case was assigned to the Gwangju Seo police station.

The police are currently reviewing the possibility of applying the crime of public threat.
Crime of Public Threat
The crime of public threat is a law that passed the National Assembly in February, applying to cases of "openly threatening the public by causing harm to the life or body of unspecified or multiple persons."
If this charge is recognized, penalties include imprisonment for up to 5 years or fines of up to 20 million won. If deemed a habitual offender, enhanced penalties may apply, resulting in imprisonment for up to 7 years and 6 months or fines of up to 30 million won.
The police are currently analyzing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage within the complex to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
Interestingly, the owner of the vehicle on which the note was placed claims that "they did not put it there."

The police are continuing their investigation to ascertain the accurate facts.
