'Squid Game Season 3' (written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk) has set another record. It dominated the global charts for two consecutive weeks.
According to Netflix's official site, Tudum, 'Squid Game Season 3' (hereafter 'Squid Game 3') reached the top spot in the global Top 10 series combined (English and non-English).
During the counting period (from June 30 to July 6), it recorded 283.8 million viewing hours. Although this is a slight decrease from the previous week (300 million hours), it was streamed more than 10 times compared to other works.
The number of viewers (calculated by dividing viewing hours by the show's running time) is also an overwhelming figure, clocking in at 46.3 million viewers. It has successfully concluded its finale.
The surprising fact is that 'Squid Game 3' has set another unprecedented record. It has held the top position for two consecutive weeks across all 93 countries where Netflix rankings are tracked.
Thanks to the popularity of Season 3, both Season 2 and Season 1 have also made a comeback. 'Squid Game Season 2' claimed the second spot in the Top 10 series (non-English), while 'Squid Game' ranked third.
These shows are also positioned in the all-time most popular series (non-English) rankings on Netflix. With 'Squid Game 3' landing in third place, the top three spots are exclusively occupied.
Meanwhile, 'Squid Game 3' is a continuation of the story from Season 2. It follows Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae) as he re-enters the game and faces off against the Front Man (played by Lee Byung-hun).
