Kim Geon-hee's Associate's 'Golden Phone' Secured by Special Prosecutor
It has been revealed that Lee Jong-ho, a close associate of Kim Geon-hee and a central figure in the 'Marine Rescue Lobby' allegations, damaged and discarded his mobile phone to avoid a special prosecutor investigation.
According to a report by KBS on the 20th, the special investigation team for the deceased Marine secured the damaged mobile phone, which is expected to become key evidence in future investigations related to Mrs. Kim.

Previously, on the 10th of last month, the special investigation team conducted a search and seizure operation on former representative Lee Jong-ho and secured the mobile phone he was using at that time.
However, just five days after the search operation, Lee appeared with his associate, Mr. Cha, at the Jamwon Hangang Park in Seoul and attempted to destroy another secretly hidden mobile phone.

The two dropped the mobile phone on the ground and stomped on it to break it before discarding it in a trash bin about 200 meters away.
However, an investigator from the special prosecutor's office, who was monitoring the situation, managed to quickly recover the mobile phone.
The mobile phone, which was used between 2022 and 2023, coincides with the timing of the investigation and trial regarding the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation case and the occurrence of the Marine's death incident.

Based on Mr. Cha's statement that he "was instructed by former representative Lee," the special prosecutor's team intends to investigate Lee for complicity in evidence destruction.
On the other hand, Lee's side claims that the mobile phone was previously seized by investigators and returned, asserting that there was no destruction of evidence.
Allegations Related to Kim Geon-hee and Special Prosecutor Investigation
Former representative Lee Jong-ho is known to have managed Kim Geon-hee's account during the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation scandal.
He is also at the center of allegations claiming he conducted 'rescue lobbying' for Im Seong-keun, a former division commander who was an initial 'suspect' in the Marine's death case.
The special prosecutor's team believes that the secured mobile phone is crucial evidence to reveal the allegations related to Mrs. Kim and plans to share the forensic results with the Kim Geon-hee special investigation team.
Meanwhile, the Kim Geon-hee special prosecutor had notified her to appear on the 20th for the investigation regarding the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation allegations; however, her side submitted a handwritten notice stating she would not attend due to health reasons. Consequently, the special prosecutor has notified her to appear again on the 21st.
