
The Korean drama, starring Song Kang and Han So-hee, will be remade in Japan. On the 31st, production company SLL announced, “‘Nevertheless,’ will be remade in Japan and released on December 9th through the OTT platforms Abema and Netflix.”
‘Nevertheless,’ is a youth romance that aired on JTBC in 2021. Song Kang played the role of Park Jae-eon, and Han So-hee played Yoo Na-bi, depicting a push-and-pull relationship. It gained particularly strong popularity in Japan, staying in the top 10 on Japan’s Netflix for 13 weeks.
It also entered the global charts for seven consecutive weeks, achieving international success. Actor Ryusei Yokohama will star in this remake titled ‘わかっていても (The shapes of love).’ Director Ryutaro Nakagawa will be involved in the direction. The drama will be released as a total of eight episodes, with the setting in Kamakura, Japan.
It is expected to delicately depict the emotions of the protagonists who are drawn to each other despite knowing they might get hurt. An SLL representative expressed, “We are glad our drama is being remade,” and anticipated that “with adaptations reflecting Japan’s emotions and culture, it will be a high-quality production.”
Meanwhile, ‘Nevertheless,’ is a story about a woman who doesn’t believe in love but wants to date and a man who finds relationships bothersome but enjoys flirting.
