Actress Song Hye-kyo’s transformation paid off. The movie “The Black Nuns” (directed by Kwon Hyuk-jae) topped the reservation rate chart. According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated computer network for movie ticket sales, “The Black Nuns” recorded a real-time reservation rate of 19.4% as of 8 a.m. on the 16th, making it the top-ranked movie overall.

Eight days before its release, a total of 52,585 viewers had already booked tickets. The intriguing theme of “exorcism” by nuns and the acting ensemble of Song Hye-kyo, Jeon Yeo-bin, and others heightened expectations. “The Black Nuns” is the second story following “The Priests” (2015), capturing on camera people engaging in forbidden rituals to save a boy possessed by an evil spirit.

Song Hye-kyo plays the role of Sister Unia. Outwardly, she appears very cold, but internally she holds a desperate sincerity to save the boy. The womance chemistry with Jeon Yeo-bin is an unmissable highlight. Jeon Yeo-bin takes on the role of Sister Michaela, who is resistant to Unia but finds herself drawn to her.

Additionally, Lee Jin-wook appears as Father Paolo, who believes that medical treatment rather than exorcism is the only way to save the boy. Moon Woo-jin plays Hee-jun, the boy in danger. Meanwhile, “The Black Nuns” will be released in theaters on the 24th.
