The web novel "Solo Leveling" is being adapted into a drama. On the 21st, Kakao Entertainment announced their ongoing investment plans for the intellectual property (IP) of "Solo Leveling." One of these plans includes the production of a drama series.

This involves presenting a series based on the original universe of the novel. It is reported that planning, development, and scriptwork are currently in progress with the media division of Kakao Entertainment.

"Solo Leveling" is a novel that was serialized on KakaoPage from 2016 to 2018. It was a huge success and was adapted into a webtoon version, which also gained popularity.

The success expanded beyond Korea. It ranked in the top 10 adult comic sales in the United States and Japan. In particular, it achieved sales of over 1 million copies in Japan.

Kakao Entertainment did not stop there. They attempted a further expansion of the IP, making "Solo Leveling" available as a game and an animation.

There are two animation series in total. On the 5th of the previous month, Season 2 premiered on OTT platforms like Netflix. It continues the story from Season 1, which launched in January last year.

This sparked a global sensation. "Solo Leveling: Arise from the Shadow" (Season 2) became the number one viewed TV show on Amazon Prime Japan.

This work ranked in the weekly top 10 in 11 countries and regions from August 8th to 13th, according to FlixPatrol, securing top spots in places like Hong Kong and Japan.

The game also received an enthusiastic response. Last year, Netmarble released the "Solo Leveling" game in 174 countries, where it ranked first in downloads in 141 countries.

Within five months of its release, the game surpassed 50 million cumulative users. It topped the sales charts in 21 countries and ranked in the top 10 in sales in 105 countries.

Meanwhile, "Solo Leveling" tells the story of the world's weakest protagonist transforming into the most powerful hunter. Preparations for the live-action drama production are in full swing.
