ㅣ Man Kills Woman in Common-Law Relationship, Deemed 'Planned Crime'
Recent developments in the 'Dongtan Death Case involving 30s couple' reveal that a man in his 30s had planned in advance to abduct the woman he was in a common-law relationship with before killing her.
According to the South Gyeonggi Police Agency on the 13th, the Hwaseong Dongtan Police, which is investigating the case, confirmed that Mr. A, the man in his 30s who killed the woman he was in a common-law relationship with before taking his own life, exhibited signs of having committed a 'planned crime.'

On the day of the crime, at around 10:19 AM on the 12th, Mr. A visited Ms. B, who was staying at a friend's house.
Mr. A overpowered Ms. B as she was leaving and forcibly made her enter the rented car he arrived in, placing duct tape over her mouth, putting a hood on her head, and binding her hands.
He then drove Ms. B to an apartment complex in Hwaseong Dongtan New Town, about 6 kilometers away, which was the apartment where the two had lived together.
At approximately 10:41 AM, when Ms. B attempted to escape, Mr. A immediately pursued her and stabbed her to death on the complex's pathway.
Ms. B, who was transported to the hospital, ultimately succumbed to her injuries, while Mr. A left a suicide note at his home and took his own life.

The conflict between the two began due to Mr. A's domestic violence. Ms. B reportedly made three reports to the police in September of last year and in February and March of this year.
In September of last year, Ms. B reported that "Mr. A threw a glass cup at her." The police treated it as a dating violence incident between lovers, separating the two and providing Ms. B with a smartwatch.
However, the following day, Ms. B requested to withdraw the safety measures, stating, "I reconciled with Mr. A and don't want punishment." The police accepted this but still forwarded Mr. A to prosecution due to the nature of the special assault involved.

The second report filed in February stemmed from a simple argument, leading to no immediate harm, which resulted in the case being closed on-site.
When the third report was made in March due to Mr. A's assault, the police, recognizing the seriousness of the situation, implemented 'emergency temporary measures,' including a restraining order against approaching within 100 meters and restrictions on communication via electronic means.
Additionally, the police advised Ms. B to occupy a temporary residence arranged by them, but she declined, stating, "I will stay at a friend's house. Mr. A does not know the address."
Ultimately, Mr. A located Ms. B's residence, rendering all safety measures ineffective. Furthermore, when Mr. A arrived armed with a weapon, Ms. B was unable to report the incident with her smartwatch.

At the time of the incident, it is presumed that Ms. B had placed her smartwatch in her bag and not worn it on her wrist, leaving her without the time to retrieve it during Mr. A's sudden attack.
The police plan to forensic analyze Ms. B's mobile phone and computer to investigate specific circumstances of the incident. However, since the suspect Mr. A is deceased, the case will be closed as 'insufficient grounds for prosecution.'
A police official stated, "We will continue investigating the circumstances of the suspect having found out about the victim's residence," adding, "Thus far, we assess this as a crime that was meticulously planned in advance by the suspect."
