Seoul Sinkhole Incident Near Hanyang University
As sinkhole incidents continue to occur throughout Seoul, a 2.5m deep sinkhole has appeared near Hanyang University.
According to Hanyang University and others, this incident was reported at around 1 PM on the 24th in front of the Jae-seong Civil Engineering Building at Hanyang University, located in Seongdong District, Seoul.
The university immediately took safety measures to block access and confirmed ground subsidence caused by damage to an underground drain pipe.

Excavators were deployed to clean up the area around the hole, and currently, concrete is being poured as they wait for it to set. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
Earlier, on the 24th of last month, a large sinkhole with a maximum diameter of 20m occurred in Myeongil-dong, Gangdong District, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist. On the 13th, another sinkhole appeared near the crosswalk at Gangdong Station in Cheonho-dong, approximately 3km away from the previous incident.
In response to these sinkhole incidents, plans have been announced for innovative underground space management measures, including the installation of observation sensors underground to monitor subsidence in the soil layers at a depth of approximately 20m.
Meanwhile, sinkholes have also occurred in Busan, Daejeon, and Incheon, leading to the spread of 'sinkhole phobia.'
