"She said I should get a divorce because I brought children into the remarriage"… Daughter-in-law's confession
A woman's story of being continuously pressured by her mother-in-law to get a divorce due to bringing children into a remarriage has garnered significant attention from netizens.
On the 11th, an article titled "My mother-in-law told me to get a divorce" was posted on the online community 'Natepan'.

The author, referred to as A, is currently in her early 40s, raising two elementary school-aged children, and remarried five years ago to a husband who is three years younger.
A explained in her post, “When we got married, my husband and I agreed not to have children.” However, her mother-in-law has been demanding a divorce since the year before last, and recently called A directly to bluntly pressure her into divorce.
"My mother-in-law was against it, but we got married… Now I'm losing interest"
A shared, “My husband has had a heated argument with his mother over this issue before.” She revealed that after receiving an unexpected call from her mother-in-law the day before, she couldn’t hide her discomfort.
A mentioned that she had prepared a 300 million won apartment for their marriage and even covered the costs for the wedding and honeymoon. She explained that her husband’s assets were less than 100 million won and he didn’t own a vehicle, so she even gave him her SUV to drive.

She recalled, “From a financial standpoint, it was a marriage where my husband received much more, and even my friends advised me against marrying such a man.”
Nevertheless, her mother-in-law opposed the marriage due to A’s previous divorce. She added that even during the meeting to introduce their families, she couldn’t conceal her discomfort, causing A's parents to be cautious while dining.
"I haven’t even heard her say the children are cute… I can’t stand it anymore"
A criticized, “After getting married, my mother-in-law has never once said anything nice about the children. There haven’t even been any warm words or allowances.” After learning that her husband had mentioned divorce, she cut off contact with her in-laws.
She expressed, “Now, it has come to the point where I am directly being asked to get a divorce. I don’t know if I should continue to endure this, and I am reaching my limit.”

The story received various reactions from netizens. Some commented, “Even if she brought a 300 million apartment, accepting that she brought children into the marriage is not easy for the mother-in-law,” or noted that “in marriages between unmarried men and remarried women, it's common for the woman to bear some economic responsibility.”
On the other hand, there were also comments stating, “If the husband can’t firmly cut off ties, it won’t be resolved,” and “The relationship with the mother-in-law is the problem; the husband not being able to stand his ground is a bigger issue.”
