As reported on the 27th, Miviludes recently released a report covering its activities from 2022 to 2024.

Miviludes is tasked with monitoring groups that deprive individuals of their free will or place them in psychological and physical subjugation, as well as preventing harm.

According to the report, as of 2023, Shincheonji has 1,180 followers in France, approximately 70% of whom are young people aged 18 to 39.

Reality and Control Methods of Shincheonji Members

Miviludes stated, "Shincheonji members are coerced into devoting significant time and effort to engaging in evangelism activities at public transportation hubs, such as train stations, and to deepening their biblical studies."

It further explained, "Many members must participate in a 'mission' composed of evangelism, Bible study, promotional activities, and artistic performances, leaving them exhausted and with no time or energy to thoroughly learn about the church or reflect on their behavior."

Members are also required to provide personal information, including family relations, face financial demands, and are threatened with expulsion if they refuse.

Additionally, it noted that members are discouraged from online searches or gathering information and are controlled regarding their appearance and individuality.

Miviludes reported, "Members who wish to leave are subjected to threats, and measures are taken to isolate them from their families if there is opposition," stating, "Those who leave Shincheonji are labeled 'apostates' and 'people of Satan.'"

It emphasized, "According to multiple testimonies, Shincheonji shows particular interest in young people and even children."

Previously, the French pop culture media Konbini released a video titled "The Hidden Face of the Korean Cult Landing in France," in which it claimed, "Shincheonji is stealing the purity of youth," featuring testimony from a local defector known as 'Laura' (pseudonym).

In response, Shincheonji denied the related allegations, stating, "No form of physical or psychological coercion is tolerated."
