Shin Min-a, Kim Young-dae, Lee Sang-yi, and Han Ji-hyun have confirmed their appearances in the new tvN drama.
tvN announced the casting lineup for 'Because I Hate Losing' (written by Kim Hye-young, directed by Kim Jung-sik) on the 17th. Shin Min-a, Kim Young-dae, Lee Sang-yi, and Han Ji-hyun will play the main roles.
'Because I Hate Losing' is a zero-sum romance. It tells the story of a woman who hates losing and holds a wedding and a man who becomes a fake groom because he doesn’t want to cause any harm.
Shin Min-a plays the role of Son Hae-young, an expert in profit and loss calculations. She is a character who considers the break-even point in both life and love. When faced with a potential career setback, she plans a fake wedding.
She will showcase an unrestrained charm different from her previous roles. She puts aside her 'romantic comedy queen' image from 'Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha' and 'Our Blues' to attempt a transformation.
Kim Young-dae will play Kim Ji-wook, a night-shift convenience store worker. Known as a citizen police officer and neighborhood hero, he has a personality that can’t ignore those in need.
He and customer Hae-young have a particularly antagonistic relationship. However, he receives an outrageous proposal and accepts the role of a groom for the ceremony, facing a new phase in his life.
The romance between Lee Sang-yi and Han Ji-hyun is also a highlight. Lee Sang-yi has been cast as Bok Kyu-hyun, a third-generation chaebol CEO. He is a non-marriage advocate who doesn’t believe in destined love.
Han Ji-hyun will play Nam Ja-yeon, a web novelist. Under the pen name Yeon Bora, she publishes adult novels online. Through this process, she becomes entangled with Kyu-hyun.
The directing will be handled by Kim Jung-sik, known for his witty works like 'Work Later, Drink Now' and 'Strong Girl Nam-soon'. The script is written by Kim Hye-young of 'Her Private Life'.
The production team stated, "It's a combination of actors with solid acting skills and unique charms," adding, "Please look forward to the realistic story that everyone can relate to."
Meanwhile, 'Because I Hate Losing' will premiere on tvN at 8:50 PM on the 26th of next month. It can also be watched on TVING and Amazon Prime.
