SEVENTEEN is gaining attention with a growth-oriented fandom, hinting at another significant record following last year.
According to the Circle Chart, SEVENTEEN surpassed 1.08 million copies in sales for their previous releases (albums released before 2024) in the first half of this year. The sales period is from January 1 to July 6.
They are the only K-pop artist to achieve this. Excluding SEVENTEEN, no other group sold over 1 million copies of previous releases during this period. This unusual phenomenon is due to the increase in new fandom.
The agency explained, "Sales of previous releases are an indicator of the scale of a new fandom," adding, "Last year alone, SEVENTEEN sold over 4.2 million copies of their previous releases."
They are challenging to achieve the milestone of 10 million artists for the second consecutive year. This year, SEVENTEEN achieved Triple Million Seller status with their best album '17 IS RIGHT HERE'.
Members Jeonghan and Wonwoo released their first single album 'THIS MAN'. The album set the highest first-week sales record (780,000 copies) for a K-pop unit album, approaching a total of 900,000 copies.
As a result, SEVENTEEN sold over 5.3 million albums in the first half of the year alone, thanks to the popularity of both new and previous releases. With their confirmed comeback in the second half, they are likely to surpass 10 million copies within this year.
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN will hold their 8th fan meeting 'SEVENTEEN in CARAT LAND' on July 23-24 at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Guro-gu, Seoul.
