Scheduled for summons investigation at 2 PM today (14th), Yoon “Health is very poor… He will decide whether to attend.”

Yoon's side: "Former President Yoon is in very poor health"

Today (14th) at 2 PM, former President Yoon Suk-yeol, who is scheduled to be summoned for questioning on charges of leading a rebellion, is reported to have not decided whether to attend due to health reasons.

On the 13th, News1 reported that a spokesperson from Yoon's side said, "(Former) President Yoon is in very poor health." According to the report, the spokesperson added, "Basically, the defendant's questioning is a voluntary investigation, and the final decision will be made by (former) President Yoon."

Previously, on the 9th, former President Yoon underwent a substantive examination of a warrant at the Seoul Central District Court on charges of obstruction of special public duty and was detained at around 2:07 AM on the 10th.

At that time, the special investigation team emphasized that Yoon's side could influence the investigation of the accused and witnesses through the leak of the arrest warrant, raising concerns about the destruction of evidence.

On the same day, former President Yoon submitted a notice of absence from the court session of the 25th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Chief Judge Ji Kwi-yeon) due to "health reasons" and did not comply with the special investigation team's request for questioning on the afternoon of the 11th.

Yoon's side claims that the health condition of former President Yoon, who suffers from diabetes, has deteriorated significantly due to the poor conditions of the detention center.

In response, the special investigation team is considering the possibility of conducting the investigation by resorting to measures such as compulsory summons if former President Yoon refuses to comply with today’s scheduled questioning at 2 PM.

If it is deemed that former President Yoon is refusing the investigation without justifiable reasons, they have stated that they will have no choice but to resort to mandatory measures under the Criminal Procedure Act.

Former President Yoon faces five major charges outlined in the arrest warrant, including "obstruction of arrest warrant execution," "interference with the deliberative rights of cabinet members," "preparation of a post-facto martial law proclamation," "deletion of hidden phone records," and "false public announcements related to martial law."
