Actor Ryu Seung-ryong continues his quiet rampage. He has deepened his immersion by portraying a character engulfed in desire.
Ryu Seung-ryong is currently starring in the Disney+ series 'Pawn: The Village Idiots' (written by Kang Yoon-sung and Ahn Seung-hwan, directed by Kang Yoon-sung), playing the role of leader Oh Gwan-seok. He embodies a sincere villain.
As the episodes progress, his villainous traits are increasingly revealed. Gwan-seok is a goal-oriented character with a persistent streak, moving forward without hesitation, even if it means harming others.
These characteristics were particularly evident in episodes 6 and 7. Gwan-seok met Captain Hwang (played by Hong Ki-joon) as they plotted separately to eliminate Beolgu (played by Jung Yun-ho) and Lim Jeon-chul (played by Kim Sung-oh).
He sought to eliminate any obstacles to fulfilling his desires without mercy, urging, "Did we gather to strengthen our bonds? We have to do as the rich man says."
In episode 7, he tried to proceed with the excavation despite adverse conditions, leading to conflict with his nephew Oh Hee-dong (played by Yang Se-jong), indicative of a rift in their relationship.
Ultimately, Gwan-seok and Hee-dong engage in physical confrontation. The pre-released trailer features scenes of their disputes amidst the serious excavation effort, leaving viewers curious about the conclusion.
'Pawn: The Village Idiots' is based on the webtoon of the same name. Set in 1977, it depicts a story of village idiots who deceive and are deceived as they scramble for a sunken treasure ship.
Meanwhile, episodes 8 and 9 of 'Pawn: The Village Idiots' are scheduled to open on the 6th.
