Former President Yoon Seok-yeol Visits External Hospital for Eye Treatment Amid Controversy Over Handcuffs and Electronic Bracelets
It has been confirmed on the 14th that former President Yoon Seok-yeol received eye treatment at an external hospital while wearing handcuffs and an electronic bracelet due to the risk of vision loss.
On this day, former President Yoon visited Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province for eye treatment, following his visit on the 13th.
The correctional authorities have stated their clear position regarding former President Yoon's use of handcuffs and an electronic bracelet. They explained, "The same procedures are applied for regular detainees going out for medical treatment," adding that this is to "preemptively eliminate any allegations of favoritism."
In fact, inmates in correctional facilities are tracked using an 'electronic tracking device (electronic bracelet)' when they leave for reasons such as medical treatment or temporary leave.

Ministry of Justice Replaces Seoul Detention Center Director and Changes Treatment Over Yoon's Favoritism Controversy
In response to ongoing allegations of favoritism regarding former President Yoon, the Ministry of Justice recently took swift action by replacing the director of the Seoul Detention Center where he is incarcerated.
The Ministry stated, "This personnel change was made based on the judgment that a human resource renewal is necessary in relation to various issues raised about former President Yoon's treatment," affirming the need for reform.
Additionally, starting from the 14th, the provision of a private attorney meeting room previously granted to former President Yoon has also been discontinued.

As a result, former President Yoon will now meet with his attorneys in the same locations as regular inmates.
Justice Minister Jeong Sung-ho explained the background of these measures in a Facebook post that afternoon. He stated, "This action aims to correct the unjust behavior of using the attorney meeting room as a personal lounge under the pretext of attorney consultations while rejecting all legal procedures, such as investigations and trials." He also added, "This measure will be equally applied to Mrs. Kim Kun-hee, who is incarcerated in the Southern Detention Center."
Minister Jeong emphasized, "The Ministry of Justice will take corresponding actions against a suspect who neglects their dignity as a former president and mocks the national judicial order with various legal tricks," reiterating the principle that "all citizens are equal before the law."
