A drunk driver causes a chain collision accident in Haeundae District
A man in his 60s, driving under the influence in Haeundae District, Busan, was apprehended by the police after causing a chain collision accident.
As cases of accidents due to drunk driving continue, another dangerous situation has emerged.

According to police investigations, at around 9:10 AM on the 8th, a Santa Fe vehicle hit a passenger car waiting behind it while reversing from the checkout point at a mart in Jung-dong, Haeundae District. The affected Santa Fe then surged forward for about 150 meters, causing additional damage.
The vehicle eventually stopped after hitting a parked Tucson and then colliding in succession with the metal fence of a nearby restaurant and the exterior wall of a restroom.
Fortunately, there were no additional casualties apart from the driver A (in his 60s), who was confirmed to have sustained minor injuries such as abrasions.
Driving while in a state of extreme intoxication
The police dispatched to the scene confirmed that driver A was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. His blood alcohol concentration was measured at over 0.08%, which is at the level that warrants license suspension.

Despite the strengthened drunk driving enforcement standards, incidents of driving in such severe states of intoxication are raising concerns.
A police official stated, "A is currently inebriated, making it difficult to investigate," and added, "For now, we are charging him with drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act and will conduct a detailed investigation into the accident in due course."
