Entertainment industry stars are in mourning. They have paid tribute to the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane crash.
Singer G-Dragon posted a memorial tribute on SNS on the 29th. He displayed a black and white image of a daisy, his symbol, and included a yellow ribbon emoticon.
Actor Jung Il-woo wrote "Deep condolences" in white letters on a black background. He also wrote "Pray for you" in English.
Lee Chung-ah announced through a YouTube community post, "I pray for the repose of those who lost their lives in the accident. I send my condolences to their families," and notified the delay of her content upload.
She added, "Once again, I express my deepest condolences to the victims and their families. I hope that the recovery from the accident and the families' healing will be accomplished with utmost efforts."
Entertainer Park Myung-soo wrote, "Rest in peace," along with a picture of a chrysanthemum. Jun Hyun-moo changed his SNS profile to a chrysanthemum and said, "I pay tribute to the victims."
Park Ji-yoon received the tragic news while traveling in the U.S. with her children. She expressed her sorrow, saying, "I pray for the repose of the deceased and the recovery of the survivors."
Jo Se-ho also said, "Hearing the news of the plane crash, my heart is so heavy and painful," and added, "I sincerely send my condolences to the bereaved families. Rest in peace."
Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 had an accident at around 9 a.m. the previous day at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla Province. It collided with airport facilities during a belly landing. Most of the fuselage was burned.
Out of 181 passengers on the flight, 179 were killed, with only 2 (crew members) surviving. It is the aircraft accident with the highest number of casualties in the country's history.
Authorities have recovered all the remains of the victims. The process of identifying them by matching with the DNA of the bereaved families is underway, but it is expected to take considerable time.
