Public Servant’s Extreme Job… Chungju Man Enters Polling Station Shirtless, Faces Off Against Ulsan ‘Onggi Man’ (Video)

Ulsan is the 'Onggi Man'? Chungju is the 'Ballot Box Man'

The Chungju Man, positioned as the counterpart to Ulsan's 'Onggi Man,' showcased a robust capacity for engaging content that reinforces the discipline among public officials.

On the 6th, a voting encouragement video titled 'Chung-Chung-Chung Sahur' was uploaded to the official YouTube channel of Chungju City. The 17-second video has already surpassed 870,000 views within just two days, becoming a hot topic.

In the video, accompanied by grand background music, Kim Seon-tae, a public official from Chungju City Hall, is seen entering a ballot box without a shirt while brandishing a stone axe and staring at it intently.

He drew attention by striking the same pose next to a monument inscribed with the words 'Fair Election.'

This appears to be a parody of a promotional video titled 'Korean-style Tong-Tong-Tong Sahur' that was uploaded on the official YouTube channel of Uljin County on the 27th of last month, promoting the 'Ulsan Onggi Festival.'

The subject matter is quite similar, as the jar has merely been swapped for a ballot box, and the video even tagged 'Onggi Festival.'

The video parodied by the Chungju Man, known as Kim Seon-tae, is based on a promotional video for the Uljin County festival, inspired by a popular mobile game where a game character climbs walls by entering a jar and striking the wall with an axe.

The 'Jar Game' is particularly well-known among gamers as it allows the YouTuber to interact with subscribers to decide the direction of the game, making it especially popular among game streamers and their audiences.

When Uljin County posted this content, netizens commented on how Chungju Man's significant influence enabled such bold promotion, with remarks like, "Thanks to the big idea presented by Chungju Man, this unconventional promotion was achievable," and "It’s absurd, but the date is etched in my memory." This indicates that the efforts of Chungju Man have certainly affected public officials in Ulsan County.

As the Chungju Man continues to be mentioned in the progressive promotional video that breaks the paradigm of existing content, there are evaluations suggesting that Kim Seon-tae created and uploaded a video shouting out to the 'Onggi Man.'

Meanwhile, Kim Seon-tae has polished the government agency's YouTube channel, which people typically do not seek out, to promote Chungju City nationwide, making a significant impact on public officials across the nation, particularly among the MZ generation.

The official YouTube channel of Chungju City currently has more than 830,000 subscribers, which is four times the city’s population of 207,081, achieving the top position among local government entities nationwide.
