He instead claimed that the target of expulsion should be former President Yoon Seok-youl. During an appearance on SBS Radio, Kim said, "Pressuring me to leave the party is an act of violence that infringes on my free will," and added, "I wonder why I am the subject of punishment. I believe I have not violated the party constitution."

Regarding his departure from the party, Kim said, "Leaving the party is my free will. If the party is no longer perceived as a conservative party, I may have to consider it, but for now, I still believe it is a conservative party."

He also emphasized, "Expelling me is a decision for the party. I want to pursue conservative politics. If there is a possibility for healthy conservatism, as a member of the party, I have an obligation to continue to speak up and stay on the right path."

On the controversy regarding the designation of a national holiday for democracy, he explained, "In December of last year, I, along with Rep. Kim Yeo-ji, the Democratic Party, and the Reform Party, jointly submitted a bill. Who created the 1987 constitution? It was the October uprising. The intention was to remember how to cherish that day as a commemorative day for democracy. It was not specifically said that April 4 should be that day."

Furthermore, Kim argued that the People Power Party must apologize to the public through actions, demanding disciplinary measures against former President Yoon Seok-youl.

He added, "Since the impeachment, the court has now rendered a judgment. An apology without action is not a real apology." When asked by the host if Yoon should be expelled from the party, he responded, "I believe it should definitely happen," stating that Yoon has directly undermined conservative values and outright denied the party constitution.
