A fan who secretly entered NewJeans' dormitory and stole items was sentenced to a fine.

The Seoul Western District Court's Criminal Division 9 (Judge Kim Min-jung) imposed a fine of 10 million won on individual A on the 23rd during the first trial. The prosecution sought a 10-month prison term. A was charged with trespassing and theft.

The court explained the reasoning for sentencing, stating, "Individual A acknowledged the crime during the investigation and showed remorse, and considering the fact that this is A's first offense with no previous criminal record, we took these factors into account."

Moreover, it was noted that at the time of the crime, NewJeans were not residing at the dormitory. The court concluded that "the risk of directly infringing on personal privacy was relatively low.”

A expressed remorse during the last court session, saying, "I made a hasty judgment and committed a mistake. I am sorry for the deep hurt I caused to the singer and the agency I supported. Please allow me to fulfill my dream of becoming a public servant that I have been preparing for."

A illegally entered the NewJeans dormitory located in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on December 18th last year. After confirming that the door was open, A re-entered on December 21st of the same year. A left with a clothes hanger and a banner, and also filmed the dormitory to post online. At that time, the dormitory was empty. NewJeans vacated the property in early December after announcing the end of their contract with Ador.
