Presidential Election Confirmed Early, Possibility of June Mock Exam Schedule Change
With the impeachment of former President Yoon Seok-yeol, an early presidential election has been confirmed, with June 3 being mentioned as a likely election date.
Consequently, there is a possibility that the schedule for the National Unified Academic Ability Test (mock exam) will be changed.

Acting Prime Minister Han Duck-soo formed a consensus with Na Tae-ack, Chairman of the National Election Commission, regarding designating June 3 as the election day.
According to Article 68, Paragraph 2 of the Constitution, a successor must be elected within 60 days in the event of a presidential vacancy. Considering the schedule for early voting, the candidate registration dates are narrowed down to between May 24 and June 3.
With the tight preparation time for primary elections and candidate verification, June 3 has emerged as the most likely date.
The issue is that this date coincides with this year's first National Unified Academic Ability Test, administered by the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation.
This crucial mock exam is the only evaluation that allows students to receive scores before applying for early admission, serving as an indicator for predicting the format of the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT).

If the presidential election day is designated as a national holiday, all schools nationwide will have to close, and some high school students and repeat test-takers will be able to exercise their voting rights, ensuring political participation. Therefore, the need to adjust the mock exam date is increasing.
In online communities, opinions are being shared such as, "The presidential election is a major event, so it seems reasonable to postpone the mock exam by a day," and "The election should take place in May to protect students' schedules." The Ministry of Education and the evaluation institute are monitoring the situation while awaiting the confirmation of the election date, and it is likely that the election date will be designated at a regular cabinet meeting.
A Ministry of Education official stated, "We cannot say when the mock exam will take place, as the presidential election date has not yet been confirmed," but added, "We are prepared to adjust once the election date is set."
If the schedule is adjusted, this June mock exam will become the first evaluation to have its date changed after the announcement of the exam day. In the past, the CSAT has been postponed due to the Pohang earthquake, but there has never been a case of changing the date of the mock exam.
