Since the inauguration ceremony for the 21st President on the 4th, President Lee Jae-myung has been actively engaging in direct communication with the public through Facebook and Instagram.
The President's 'direct communication' involves detailing his schedule and activities from the previous day with photographs, which seems aimed at increasing transparency in governance and narrowing the gap with the public.
On the 14th, President Lee posted on his Instagram with the title, "Today of Lee Jae-myung. I report to the people."
In that post, the President emphasized that "the most important duty of politics is to protect the safety and peace of the people," promising, "I will be a strong bulwark so that the citizens can live their daily lives with peace of mind."
On the previous day, the 13th, President Lee also shared details about a meeting with business leaders and heads of economic organizations held at the Yongsan Presidential Office. He revealed, "We agreed to collaborate in developing countermeasures against U.S. trade pressures," demonstrating the government's proactive stance on economic issues.
Additionally, President Lee introduced his schedule, which included visits to frontline military units, border villages, and regions involved in the pilot project for basic income in rural areas. This showcases his hands-on approach to governance, directly inspecting security and livelihood situations.
Notably, there was an urgent briefing regarding Israel's airstrike on Iran.
The President stated, "First and foremost, we will take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of our citizens and to prevent significant damage to our economy due to external shocks." This indicates the government's stance of prioritizing national security and economic stability amidst rising international instability.
President Lee’s communication through Instagram is interpreted as an effort to transparently inform the public about government activities and build trust, utilizing social media as a direct communication method.
