President Lee Jae-myung visits front-line units to inspect military preparedness
President Lee Jae-myung visited front-line units to inspect military readiness and encourage soldiers.
On the 13th, President Lee visited the Army's 25th Infantry Division Bi-ryong Observation Post in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province, where he conversed with soldiers carrying out surveillance and search missions while checking the status of military facilities.
During the visit, President Lee stated, "You play the most important role in ensuring the existence of the Republic of Korea," and urged the soldiers to "take pride and do your best, as the treatment and recognition of the military have changed significantly."
He also emphasized, "Even though it is often forgotten, security is an indispensable matter for the survival of our community," boosting the morale of the soldiers.

In particular, President Lee remarked, "It is more important to win without fighting than to win by fighting. That is your responsibility," and added, "The most important thing is to prevent the need to fight, and that is the responsibility of people like us." This is interpreted as a reflection of the Lee Jae-myung administration's defense and security philosophy, which seeks peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula based on strong military power while promoting dialogue and cooperation.
President Lee told the soldiers, "Recently, due to various issues, your pride may have been affected, but the people trust in your loyalty," and mentioned, "Frontline commanders and the soldiers have performed their roles well, with loyalty not to a specific individual but to the citizens and the nation."

He also stated, "There have been claims that some soldiers are retiring a lot and morale has been significantly lowered, but the people do not think that at all," emphasizing, "The military of the past and the current military are entirely different. Our citizens recognize that." This is interpreted as acknowledging the efforts of soldiers who were deployed as part of the martial law forces during the emergency situation last December, which helped prevent significant chaos by maintaining a cautious attitude.
Comforting residents in border areas and emphasizing peace-centered security policy
Meanwhile, on the same day, President Lee visited a village in the border area where North Korea's noise broadcasts ceased after the military stopped its loudspeaker broadcasts to the North, comforting residents who had suffered during that time and inspecting the area near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and guard posts to assess the situation regarding North Korea's suspended broadcasts.

Earlier, on the 11th, President Lee halted the military's loudspeaker broadcasts to North Korea, after which North Korea also stopped its noise broadcasts to the South the following day.
This move by President Lee is interpreted as a way to check domestic security and defense ahead of the G7 Summit from the 15th to the 17th, while highlighting a peace-centered security policy that differentiates from the previous administration.
