President Lee Jae-myung sent a congratulatory message to the South Korean team that won the gold medal in the men's 400m relay final at the 2025 Summer Universiade held in Germany.

On the 29th, President Lee posted on his Facebook, praising the athletes' achievements by stating, "The dramatic reversal achieved through strong teamwork and steadfast determination has brought overwhelming emotion to all of our citizens."

In particular, President Lee emphasized the historic significance of this gold medal, mentioning that it is especially meaningful as it marks the first time that South Korean athletics has won in relay events at global competitions, including the Universiade.

President Lee evaluated that the sweat and perseverance of the athletes have finally led to a shining fruition, reviving hope that the men's 400m relay, which had been suspended since the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, can again take the stage on the world level.

He expressed hope that the athletes would meet the qualification standards by next month and could challenge the Tokyo World Athletics Championships in September while promising, "I will continue to pay attention and support them."

In closing, President Lee stated, "I hope that the glory of the precious gold medal achieved by our athletics team brings joy and pride to all citizens today," and sent a strong round of applause for the athletes' passion and determination.

Meanwhile, the South Korean men's athletics team, composed of athletes Seo Min-jun (Seocheon County Office), Namadi Joel Jin (Yecheon County Office), Lee Jae-sung (Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall), and Kim Jeong-yun (Korea National Sport University), won the gold medal in the 400m relay at the U Championships held in Germany.

This is the first time that South Korean athletics has secured a gold medal in relay events, including the men's 400m relay at the U Championships.
