President Lee Jae-myung has expressed his hope for a friendly match between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and a Korean football club to be held in Korea during his first phone call with the King of Qatar.

In this call, which was his first since taking office, President Lee conveyed his expectations to King Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar.
On the 22nd, President Lee shared this information through his social media.
He particularly congratulated PSG, which includes Korean football star Lee Kang-in, on winning the UEFA Champions League last month and expressed hope for a friendly match between Qatar-owned PSG and a Korean football club to take place in Korea.
Strengthening Korea-Qatar relations, expanding from energy to investment and defense
During the call, President Lee also emphasized the importance of the relationship between the two countries.

He noted that "Qatar has played a vital role as a key energy supplier to Korea for a long time, and Korea has built a strong trust through its contributions to large-scale infrastructure development in Qatar."
Additionally, President Lee mentioned that cooperation between Korea and Qatar has recently expanded across various sectors such as investment, defense, and the defense industry.
He further stated, "We promised to work together to further strengthen the solid relationship between our countries in the future."
