Appointment of Yoon Ho-jung as Minister of the Interior and Safety

President Lee Jae-myung has approved the appointment of Yoon Ho-jung as the Minister of the Interior and Safety.

On the 19th, the presidential office officially announced that President Lee had approved the personnel confirmation report for Yoon, which was adopted by the National Assembly the previous day.

The National Assembly's Administrative Safety Committee held a plenary session the day before and adopted the confirmation report for Yoon. It is noteworthy that this decision was made 14 days after the government requested a personnel confirmation from the National Assembly.

Yoon Ho-jung is an individual with extensive political experience, having first entered politics in 1988 as the secretary of the Planning and Coordination Office of the Peace Democratic Party.

In 1995, he served as a spokesperson for the New Politics National Assembly, a party founded by former President Kim Dae-jung, further building his political capabilities.

Notably, in the 21st National Assembly, he was elected as the chair of the Legal Affairs and Judiciary Committee, a rare achievement for a non-legal professional, highlighting his prominence.

Additionally, he has held key positions within the Democratic Party, including floor leader and chairman of the emergency committee, and he solidified his political weight as a "five-term lawmaker" after being elected in the 22nd General Election held last year.
