According to the Daejeon Western Police Station, at around noon on the 30th, the police urgently arrested a man, identified as A (in his 20s), on charges of murder in an underground passageway in Sanseong-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon.

At the time of his arrest, A attempted to ingest poison inside the vehicle, but fortunately, his life was not in danger.

A citizen who witnessed the scene told KBS in an interview, "He opened the driver's side door wide and started to vomit." The citizen added, "Within just a few minutes, one or two police cars arrived and shouted 'Open up,' but he wouldn't open the door."

Details of the Crime and Escape

A is accused of fatally stabbing his former partner, a woman in her 30s identified as B, with a knife at around noon on the 29th near an apartment complex in Goejeong-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon.

B was transported to the hospital while receiving emergency treatment but ultimately passed away due to cardiac arrest.

Immediately after the crime, A fled using a shared vehicle that he had parked nearby. A few hours later, he abandoned the shared vehicle within Daejeon and continued to evade the police by switching to a motorcycle.

Even more shockingly, on the night of the crime, A visited a funeral home in Seo-gu, Daejeon, where the victim's wake was being held, using a rental car.

Ultimately, after tracking A's movements, the police arrested him at around 11:50 AM on the 30th, just 4 km away from the crime scene in the underground passage.

The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant after investigating the motive behind the crime once A recovers his health.

According to the police, A was reported to the authorities four times previously.

On November 1 of last year, he was charged with property damage in a restaurant, and the following day, B reported that she had not received her motorcycle back from A.

At that time, A only underwent counseling.

Additionally, he was reported for breaking and entering while living with B but was not charged, and in June of this year, he was arrested for assaulting B after a dispute, as well as threatening and assaulting the responding police officers.

At that time, B submitted a written statement indicating she did not wish to press charges against A. It was reported that the police had offered safety measures for crime victims, such as smartwatches, which B declined.
