The arrest stemmed from a bag accidentally dropped by the pair. A dropped a small bag while walking with B in front of Mangjong Station, which was then discovered by a passerby.

The passerby approached the bag, initially thinking it was discarded trash, and found a syringe and what appeared to be narcotics inside. The individual immediately reported it to the police.

"I was driving and then walking when I found a bag on the ground, picked it up, and found a syringe and a powder that resembled drugs, so I reported it," the witness explained.

An apprehension after a month of surveillance

The narcotics found in the bag were confirmed to be 6 grams of methamphetamine and ketamine. Upon receiving the report on the 3rd of last month, police analyzed the black boxes of about ten surrounding vehicles to identify suspect A.

A, known to be affiliated with organized crime in the Wonju area, rarely returned home, which meant the police had to conduct surveillance for over a month before they could apprehend him.

Lee Jin-hak, head of the criminal investigation unit at the Wonju Police, stated, "The suspects used burner phones with frequent replacements. All transactions were conducted via Telegram."

The police additionally discovered 70 grams of methamphetamine and ketamine, as well as over 3,000 liters of liquid cannabis at A's home. This amount is sufficient for approximately 4,000 doses and is valued at about 200 million won.

Authorities view A as a drug dealer and are expanding their investigation to target users.
