K-Smart Patrol Equipped with Advanced Technology, Demonstration Operation in Yeouido Area

On the 11th, the Seoul Police Agency's Mobile Patrol Team announced that its 'K-Smart Patrol,' which integrates drones, wearable robots, and patrol vehicles, will be demonstrated in the Yeouido area of Seoul.

Accordingly, from the 9th until the 30th of next month, approximately two months of crime prevention patrols utilizing advanced smart devices will take place in places like Yeouido Hangang Park, shopping malls, and subway stations.

This demonstration operation was established to respond to the increasing crowds in Yeouido and the rise in 112 emergency calls due to the clear spring weather. The police are conducting patrol activities mainly during weekends and holidays.

In particular, in park areas where vehicle access is difficult, an rapid response system using electric bicycles has been established, and in steep areas, police officers wear wearable robots to reduce fatigue and enable long-duration patrols.

A representative from the Seoul Police Agency stated, "K-Smart Patrol is the first step in implementing scientific policing that integrates advanced technology in downtown Seoul," and added, "It will contribute to increasing citizens' perceived safety and creating a space in Yeouido where people can enjoy themselves more safely."

This demonstration operation serves as an example of how the police's patrolling methods are being modernized in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution era, aiming to enhance crime prevention effectiveness through wide-area monitoring using drones and utilizing wearable robots for personnel management. This is expected to improve the efficiency of police officers' work as well.
