Police Agency Strengthens Response to Terror Threats Against Presidential Candidates

The police have enhanced security in response to terrorist threats against presidential candidates by deploying sniper observation equipment and bomb disposal units on-site, as well as operating special equipment to prepare for drone-related threats.

On the 14th, the Police Agency announced that it has deployed sniper observation equipment on-site in anticipation of possible terrorist threats targeting presidential candidates.

This measure appears to reflect a response to demands for enhanced security following reports of threats such as the smuggling of sniper rifles aimed at Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung.

Furthermore, they are strengthening their vigilance by also deploying bomb disposal units on-site in case of emergencies. Police officers have been concentrated around buildings and rooftops near campaign sites, as well as along major routes to enhance security measures.

In response to potential threats, bomb disposal units have also been deployed on-site.

To counter recent threats from drone-based attacks, the police are actively utilizing special equipment such as radio detectors and jamming devices.

This is in response to the growing need for enhanced security due to recent attempted terrorist acts aimed at politicians both domestically and globally.

A police official stated, "We are continuously preparing for the increasing possibility of terrorism targeting presidential candidates," and emphasized that "all functions of the responsible police department are mobilized for proactive responses, including easing congestion around campaign sites, maintaining order, managing traffic safety, and swiftly apprehending illegal actors." Additionally, it was mentioned that mobile units are also being deployed in preparation for surprise gatherings and protests.
