Accidents Involving Patient Falls at Nursing Homes in Yangju and Paju
Accidents involving patients falling and subsequently dying have occurred at nursing homes in Yangju and Paju in Gyeonggi Province.
According to fire authorities, at around 6:35 PM on the 8th, a patient in their 50s, referred to as A, fell from the third floor of a nursing home in Baekseok-eup, Yangju, to the first floor.

A was found in a state of cardiac arrest and was urgently transported to a hospital but ultimately succumbed. A was hospitalized due to pre-existing medical conditions and was reportedly alone in the room at the time of the incident.
Earlier that same day, at around 2:30 PM, another accident occurred at a different nursing home in Wadong-dong, Paju, where a patient in their 70s, referred to as B, fell from the third floor. B was severely injured and transported to a hospital but also died.
B was hospitalized due to dementia and was reportedly alone in the room at the time of the incident.

Both incidents raise concerns regarding the adequacy of safety management within the hospitals. The police are investigating the circumstances of the accidents and potential negligence by the parties involved at the nursing homes.
In particular, since both incidents occurred while patients were alone, there is a growing call for a review of the safety management systems in place at these facilities.
