Actor Park Soo-young will participate in a play co-produced by South Korea and Japan.

The Seongnam Arts Center and the Japanese National Theatre will present the play "Yakiniku Dragon: Yonggiri's Gopchang House" (original work and directed by Jeong Ui-shin) to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Japan.

"Yakiniku Dragon" is set in a gopchang (beef intestine) restaurant run by a Zainichi Korean family in the Kansai region of Japan during the 1970s. It tells the story of a family that continues to hold on to hope despite the challenges of their reality.

Park Soo-young will join the cast as "Dae-soo." Dae-soo is a character with strong survival instincts and is proactive in love. He is seasoned enough to do anything that makes money, but in love, he is pure and devoted.

Park Soo-young previously played the role of Dae-soo in 2011 and is returning to the stage after 14 years. He will evoke empathy and compassion as he portrays this likable yet infuriating character.

Director Jeong Ui-shin praised Park Soo-young, stating, "He is an actor with exceptional analytical skills regarding the work," adding that he has the ability to bring every scene to life and make the character special.

"Yakiniku Dragon" was staged in 2008 and 2011 and is now returning to audiences after 14 years. It will begin on October in Tokyo's National Theatre and continue in November at the Seongnam Arts Center in Seoul.

Meanwhile, Park Soo-young is delivering a stellar performance as a romantic husband who supports his wife wholeheartedly in tvN's "For the First, For Love."
