Actor Park Ji-hoon is taking on a military comedy drama.
The production team of the Tving original series 'Becoming a Legend of a Cook' (written by Choi Yong, directed by Jo Nam-hyung) announced the casting news on the 7th, confirming its release next year. Park Ji-hoon, Yoon Kyung-ho, Han Dong-hee, and Lee Hong-nae will star in the series.
'Becoming a Legend of a Cook' is based on a webtoon of the same name. The story depicts a cook who, instead of holding a rifle, wields a kitchen knife, and swaps out a bullet belt for an apron, as he transforms into a legend while following a quest screen that promises to save his life.
The realistic storyline, brought to life by the experiences of the writer Choi Yong, a former cook, and the unique and refined direction of Jo Nam-hyung, aims to deliver delightful laughter along with a heartwarming touch.
Park Ji-hoon will play the role of 'Kang Sung-jae', a new second lieutenant who has just transferred to a military outpost and serves as a cook. He falls from being the top trainee to a troubled soldier. Following an unfamiliar voice, he accepts the quest to become a cook.
Will he truly become the legendary cook responsible for the meals of the Republic of Korea's armed forces? Yoon Kyung-ho plays 'Sergeant Park Jae-young', who is part of the 4th company where Kang Sung-jae serves. He is known for his strong dialect.
He is a logistics officer nicknamed "ticking time bomb," constantly involved in colorful incidents. After repeatedly failing in promotions, he remains stuck as a sergeant and is troubled by the arrival of a problematic rookie soldier.
Han Dong-hee will portray 'Lieutenant Jo Ye-rin', the head of the military outpost. Jo Ye-rin has a straightforward personality that insists on speaking her mind. She is the underdog among the elite cadets of the Army Academy.
Due to certain circumstances, she has been assigned to the outpost and is living a quiet life until the arrival of new recruits turns her life into a variety of events. She brings warmth and charisma as the girl crush of the outpost.
Lee Hong-nae will play 'Corporal Yoon Dong-hyun', the senior cook. Dong-hyun is notorious for being a 'taste illiterate', responsible for bringing a dark period to the outpost's dining hall. With only 100 days left until his discharge, he senses that his remaining military life won't be smooth with the arrival of a strange junior.
'Becoming a Legend of a Cook' depicts the daily life of a cook who sacrifices weekends to wake up the earliest and finish the latest in taking care of the soldiers' three meals a day, approached through the lens of gaming quests.
Especially focusing on the growth process of a level 1 private becoming a legend, it will present a fresh spectacle through various food feasts. The drama is set to premiere early next year.
