Kim Geon-hee's Imminent Arrest? Rep. Park Eun-jung Predicts Special Prosecutor Will Request Warrant Today
Rep. Park Eun-jung of the Justice Innovation Party has forecasted that an arrest warrant for Kim Geon-hee, the wife of former President Yoon Seok-yeol, will soon be requested.
Rep. Park, who had a tense relationship with the former president during his term as Prosecutor General when she served as the Ministry of Justice's inspector, stated in an interview on MBC Radio’s "Kim Jong-bae's Focus" on the 7th, "It seems that the special prosecutor will request the arrest warrant today."

Rep. Park pointed out that the special prosecutor's investigation into Kim Geon-hee was conducted in a very short period of time.
"Excluding breaks and time for reviewing documents, the actual time that the special prosecutor spent questioning Kim Geon-hee the previous day was not even seven hours," she said, adding, "This makes it appear that the special prosecutor summoned her not to confirm facts, but rather to formally hear the suspect's explanation before requesting an arrest warrant."
Possibility of Evidence Collection and Arrest
Rep. Park analyzed that the special prosecutor has already secured substantial evidence.
"Up until now, the prosecution has nearly wrapped up its investigations concerning Myung Tae-kyun and Deutsche Motors, and the special prosecutor has secured a lot of evidence, including the arrest of former Unification Church Head Yoon Young-ho regarding the Geumjin Baptismal case," she mentioned. She added that this situation suggests the special prosecutor had anticipated Kim's denial of the allegations and limited the investigation to just one session.

When asked about the potential for simultaneous arrests of the couple, Rep. Park replied, "It cannot be ruled out as a consideration, but I believe the court will take into account the severity of the crimes." Additionally, she stated, "Given the severity of the crimes committed by the Yoon Seok-yeol couple and their complete denial, a simultaneous arrest seems inevitable."
In particular, Rep. Park referenced the case of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, stating, "Looking back at the investigation of former Minister Cho, it cannot be considered highly unusual for both spouses to be arrested simultaneously."
She further added, "The crimes of Yoon Seok-yeol and Kim Geon-hee are of a level that is incomparable to those of former Minister Cho and his spouse, so I think the court will not feel a significant burden regarding a simultaneous arrest."
Meanwhile, former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo mentioned on SNS on the night of the 6th, "The law has its fairness," suggesting that there might be a possibility of the special prosecutor not pushing for simultaneous arrests of the couple.
However, he added, "If the special prosecutor arrests Kim Geon-hee following the precedent of the Cho Kuk case, it would be self-inflicted harm for former President Yoon, leaving him with nothing to say."
