Park Chan-dae, Candidate for Party Leader, Promises Completion of Prosecutorial Reform in Gwangju
Park Chan-dae, the candidate for the leadership of the Democratic Party of Korea, visited Gwangju and expressed a strong commitment to prosecutorial reform.
On the afternoon of the 27th, Park attended the "Talk Concert for Swift Prosecutorial Reform for Gwangju Citizens" held at Jeonil Building 245 in Dong-gu, Gwangju, and promised, "If I become the party leader, I will ensure the completion of the four key prosecutorial reform bills by September."
Park highlighted the historical context of prosecutorial reform, noting, "Prosecutorial reform has been a long-standing wish of the people, but it has been thwarted repeatedly due to resistance from the political prosecution."

He explained the attempts at prosecutorial reform by former President Roh Moo-hyun and the results, as well as the reform efforts of the Moon Jae-in administration and their limitations, emphasizing the necessity of prosecutorial reform.
Emphasis on Restraining Political Prosecution and Restoring Judicial Justice
Park stated, "The prosecution has been given ample opportunities to reform itself, but instead of reforming, it has devolved into the main culprit that has harmed the country for three years," insisting that the powerful reform must be pursued with the strength of the citizens.
In particular, he presented a concrete schedule to process the prosecutorial reform bills by September if elected as party leader, promising, "I will ensure that the flowers of judicial justice and the restoration of democracy bloom on our people's Chuseok table."
Park also revealed plans to form a special committee within the National Assembly to eradicate the manipulation of investigations by the political prosecution and to launch a fact-finding investigation.
Kim Yong-min, a member of the same party who participated in the talk concert, supported Park's commitment to prosecutorial reform, stating, "Park was the hidden architect behind the impeachment of prosecutor Ahn Dong-hwan, the first case in constitutional history."

Kim also proposed a regional pledge to relocate the Constitutional Court or the Supreme Court to Gwangju as part of judicial reform.
Previously, on the 23rd, Park officially declared his candidacy for party leader at the Democratic Party's office in Yeouido, Seoul, stating, "Until now, Lee Jae-myung has been by my side, but from now on, I must be by Lee Jae-myung's side."
He outlined key pledges for the success of Lee Jae-myung's government, including focusing the Democratic Party's capabilities, perfecting the end of internal strife, completing reforms in prosecution, judiciary, and media, and achieving a sweeping victory in next year's local elections.
