The author, Mr. A, explained the situation, stating, "I was heading from Mokpo to Daejeon on the Mugunghwaho after hearing news of my father's surgery." However, the scene Mr. A encountered was unexpected.

Mr. A expressed his disbelief, saying, "What is going on here? It's the first time I've seen someone lying down on a train."

Situation in the Controversial Photo

The released photo shows a passenger lying across five seats in what appears to be a standing section of the Mugunghwaho.

What is even more shocking is that this passenger was walking barefoot on the seats without any shoes.

Netizens who came across the post reacted by saying things like, "Why are they doing that?" and "I hope they’re not from our country," as well as, "Even if there are many empty seats, you shouldn’t behave like that."

Meanwhile, the location where the photo was taken is presumed to be the cafe car of the Mugunghwaho.

Since 2018, Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail) has been modifying train cafe cars to accommodate standing passengers.

This section includes vending machines for snacks and drinks, standing tables, sitting tables, and 28 subway-style seats.
