NewJeans has recently been making waves on the U.S. Billboard song chart. With two new releases from South Korea and Japan, they are sailing smoothly on global charts.
Billboard announced the latest chart (dated 13th) on the 10th. NewJeans' debut single title track in Japan, "Supernatural," clinched the 22nd spot on "Global" (excluding the U.S.) and the 34th spot on "Global 200." The track "Right Now" placed 120th globally.
The double single "How Sweet" has been listed on the global chart for six consecutive weeks. The title track of the same name ranked 30th and 46th on "Global" and "Global 200," respectively. The track "Bubble Gum" ranked 64th and 153rd, respectively.
Billboard especially highlighted "How Sweet." It was selected as one of the "Critics' Picks: 20 Best K-Pop Songs of the First Half of 2024." Billboard described it as "a refreshing and breezy track like summer wind."
NewJeans has recently been gaining syndrome-level popularity in Japan. Following a fan meeting at Tokyo Dome last month, they have been showing strong performance on major Japanese music charts. On Spotify Japan's "Daily Top Songs" (dated 8th), they listed a total of 11 songs.
Their Japanese singles have also ranked high on domestic charts. "Supernatural" has held the No. 1 spot on Bugs' daily chart for seven consecutive days (from the 2nd to the 8th) and peaked at No. 5 on Melon's "Top 100." "How Sweet" also ranked 3rd on the same day.
Meanwhile, NewJeans will be appearing on KBS-2TV's "Music Bank" on the 12th. Starting from this, they will also be showcasing their Japanese single "Supernatural" on domestic music shows such as MBC-TV's "Show! Music Core" and engaging with fans.
