National Tax Service Announces Strong Measures to Collect 110 Trillion Won in Unpaid Taxes
Im Kwang-hyeon, the new Commissioner of the National Tax Service, has expressed a strong determination to collect the outstanding tax amounting to 110 trillion won.
During his inauguration ceremony held at the National Tax Service on the afternoon of the 23rd, Commissioner Im emphasized the urgent need for a response to the issue of tax delinquencies, revealing plans to reclassify delinquent taxpayers through a comprehensive survey of unpaid taxes.

According to the National Tax Statistics Portal, the accumulated unpaid national taxes as of last year amounted to 110.731 trillion won. Of this amount, approximately 83%, or 91.3748 trillion won, is in a 'reserve for collection' status, making it virtually impossible to collect. Commissioner Im stated, "We will mobilize all available means to collect from high-value and habitual delinquents, including those who have concealed assets both domestically and abroad," expressing a strong commitment to enforcement.
