Mark from ‘NCT’ showcases his unique charm as a solo artist. Mark will release his new song ‘Fraktsiya’ (Feat. Youngji Lee) on global music sites at 6 PM on the 16th. The music video will also be simultaneously released on YouTube’s SMTOWN channel.
The new release is a hip-hop track. It features a heavy 808 bass and intensely repetitive synthesizer sound set against house-style chord progressions. It incorporates elements of UK drill, a subgenre of hip-hop. Mark presents a unique charm and sharp rapping that he hasn’t shown before.
The lyrics portray both Mark and Youngji moving between K-pop and hip-hop, likening them to ‘Fraktsiya’. Mark stated, “I started working from the thought of reflecting on my position in K-pop and living in various ways,” and added, “I felt Youngji had a similar character to mine, so I requested her to feature.”
He continued, “I thought Youngji and I would have a unique chemistry, and I really wanted to create something together. With ‘Fraktsiya’, I confirmed that wasn’t wrong. Thank you again.” He concluded, “I’m excited to finally present the new single. I hope the fans who have been waiting will really enjoy it. I had fun working on it and completed a cool song. Enjoy the hot ‘Fraktsiya’ this winter.”
Mark has continuously worked on songs that contain his distinct musical style, such as ‘Child’, ‘Golden Hour’, ‘200’, proving his capabilities as a musician. He plans to release his first solo album next April.
