Actor Namgoong-min and Jeon Yeo-bin have returned with a traditional melodrama. They marked a solid start with a viewership rating in the 5% range.
SBS-TV's new Friday-Saturday drama "Our Movie" (written by Han Ga-eun and Kang Kyung-min, directed by Lee Jeong-heum) premiered on the 13th. According to Nielsen Korea, the first episode recorded a nationwide rating of 4.2%.
The broadcast depicted the meeting between film director Lee Je-ha (played by Namgoong-min) and terminally ill consultant Lee Da-eum (played by Jeon Yeo-bin). Je-ha was in a position to confirm his next project, overcoming the sophomore jinx.
He decided to remake a work by his father, a giant in the film industry. The terminally ill setting of the female lead was realistically adjusted, leading him to confront Da-eum in the process.
It evoked poignant emotions. The cheerful Da-eum was revealed to be a terminal patient. When asked why she was filming the scenery with a camcorder, she confessed, "Because I might not be able to see it again."
The story of Je-ha and Da-eum piqued curiosity. The two coincidentally met and exchanged greetings as director and consultant. There was also keen interest in the movie they would create together, "White Love."
Namgoong-min and Jeon Yeo-bin's acting left a strong impression. They deeply immersed themselves in their respective characters, sometimes calmly and other times explosively expressing emotions, pulling the audience into the drama.
Meanwhile, "Our Movie" is an emotional melodrama. It tells the story of a film director and a terminally ill aspiring actress who share a love they cannot postpone until tomorrow. It airs every Friday and Saturday night at 9:50 PM.
