Jeju Air flight 7C2216 attempted to make a belly landing at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla Province around 9:03 a.m. the previous day when it collided with airport facilities. Most of the aircraft was burned.
Out of the 181 people on board, 179 passengers died, except for two crew members. This incident resulted in the most casualties from an aviation accident in South Korea.
Authorities have recovered all the victims' bodies and are in the process of identifying them by comparing them with the DNA of the bereaved families. However, this is expected to take considerable time.
