Former President Moon Jae-in has publicly recommended the new book 'Cho Kuk's Study' by former Justice Party leader Cho Kuk, who is included in the list of special pardons for the August 15 Liberation Day.

On the 9th, an Instagram post by Cho Kuk featured a video where former President Moon personally introduces the book. In the video, Moon holds up the recently published 'Cho Kuk's Study' and mentions that "it is an even more precious result of effort since it was written by Cho Kuk in the difficult circumstances of being confined in a solitary cell."

He added, "Although the reality he faces is very unfortunate, I am grateful that he utilized that time to write a book."

Former President Moon also emphasized the social significance of the book. He said, "I hope this book goes beyond Cho Kuk's personal study and becomes a study for all of us" and expressed his belief that "when that happens, our society will become more livable and move toward a world where people can live together."

Additionally, he did not forget to encourage many people to read this book.

Meanwhile, 'Cho Kuk's Study' is a compilation of letters written by Cho Kuk during his incarceration in December last year and discussions with literary critic Jung Yeo-oul.

Cho Kuk is included in the list of special pardons for the August 15 Liberation Day, and it is reported that former President Moon suggested Cho Kuk's pardon during a private meeting with Lee Sang-ho, the senior secretary for political affairs, on the 5th.

The decision on whether to grant a pardon and reinstatement to Cho Kuk, who has been sentenced to two years in prison for charges including entrance exam corruption and covering up presidential office inspections, is expected to be finalized today (the 11th) through deliberation and resolution at the temporary cabinet meeting chaired by President Lee Jae-myung.
