The movie ‘Moana 2’ (directed by Dave Derrick Jr.) has forecasted a successful box office performance. ‘Moana 2’ began global advance ticket sales on the 29th of last month (Korean time) through the largest North American ticketing site, Fandango.
It has achieved the highest pre-sale numbers among this year’s animations. In terms of advance sales, it has emerged as the fourth hit, following ‘Deadpool and Wolverine,’ ‘Wicked,’ and ‘Dune: Part 2.’ Notably, it has surpassed the booking numbers of ‘Inside Out 2,’ which is the highest-grossing animation of all time, having earned $1.68725 billion worldwide.
There is keen interest in whether ‘Moana 2’ can break this record, especially as it garnered 178 million views within a day of its teaser trailer release. It has surpassed the view counts of ‘Inside Out 2’ (157 million) and ‘Frozen 2’ (116 million), and is expected to bring about what is being termed as a ‘Moanapocalypse’ in theaters.
‘Moana 2’ is the sequel released 8 years after ‘Moana,’ where Moana reunites with Maui and ventures beyond the dangerous sea. It’s a story of their adventure together. The actors who led the success of the previous film have returned as the voice cast.
Hollywood actor Auli’i Cravalho voices Moana, and Dwayne Johnson reprises his role as Maui. Meanwhile, ‘Moana 2’ is set to release on the 27th.
