“Mickey 17,” Release D-DAY…”Box Office Kickoff, Over 300,000 Advance Tickets”

Director Bong Joon-ho's new film, "Mickey 17," has signaled its box office success from its opening day.

"Mickey 17" will premiere worldwide in Korea on the 28th, kick-starting its box office journey. It recorded over 300,000 advance ticket sales on its release day, and it's expected to dominate theaters over the March 1st holiday period.

According to the integrated network of the Korean Film Council, "Mickey 17" showed a reservation rate of 67.8% as of 9 a.m. that day, with ticket sales reaching 303,456.

It is far ahead of its competitors, such as "Exorcism Story" (5.1%, 22,709 viewers) and "Captain America: Brave New World" (4.9%, 22,093 viewers).

"Mickey 17" is Director Bong Joon-ho's first new work in six years since "Parasite" (2019). It is a science fiction film starring Hollywood actor Robert Pattinson in the leading role.

The movie tells the story of "Mickey," a clone sent on dangerous missions, who faces his 17th death crisis. While he's presumed dead, "Mickey 18" is printed, leading to a series of events.

Meanwhile, Director Bong Joon-ho will hold a series of GV (Guest Visit) events to meet audiences at Megabox COEX on the 8th of next month and Lotte Cinema World Tower on the 9th.
