Man who stole ‘outdoor unit’ from someone else’s store caught by police, says “I sold it to a junk shop”

The outdoor unit theft incident captured on CCTV

An incident occurred where the outdoor unit placed in front of a Thai restaurant in Daejeon was stolen by an unidentified man.

On the 13th, JTBC's "Incident Report" covered the story of a self-employed individual, Mr. A, who runs a Thai restaurant in Daejeon.

Mr. A revealed that he purchased an air conditioner unit and outdoor unit worth approximately 800,000 won on the night of the 9th. The installation technician was scheduled to visit at around 4:30 AM on the following day, the 10th, so Mr. A temporarily stored the delivered outdoor unit in a corner of the restaurant's parking lot.

However, when the technician arrived at the promised time, he discovered that the outdoor unit was missing and immediately notified Mr. A.

Feeling puzzled, Mr. A checked the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and captured footage of a man using a truck to load the outdoor unit and leave around 4 AM.

Mr. A promptly reported the man to the police, who launched an investigation and apprehended the suspect on the 12th.

In police questioning, the suspect reportedly stated, "I thought it was being discarded," adding that he had already disassembled the outdoor unit and sold it to a scrap dealer.
