“Man in his 40s Opposing Yoon’s Dismissal Stages Self-Harm Incident in Gwanghwamun Square”

A self-harm incident involving a supporter of former President Yoon occurred at Gwanghwamun Square, protesting the impeachment ruling.

A 43-year-old man, identified as Lee, attempted self-harm with a sharp object near the statue of Admiral Yi Sun-sin in Gwanghwamun Square, Jongno, Seoul, around 9:40 AM on the 6th, according to police reports.

However, no evidence of him threatening others with the sharp object or causing a disturbance was found, so no further charges were made.

Firefighters who responded to the scene provided emergency treatment to Lee, and fortunately, his injuries were limited to superficial cuts, so he was not transported to the hospital.

Police seized the sharp object he was carrying and took him for voluntary questioning to prevent recurrence.

According to police investigations, Lee expressed that his reason for self-harm was in opposition to the impeachment of former President Yoon.

He was also found not to be affiliated with any specific gathering or organization. After contacting his guardian, the police sent him home.
